7th annual school farm camp

Farm camp

7th annual schools farm camp
The farm camp at Gayaza High School was the first ever virtual farm camp in the country.
It was curved out of the activities at the HeLP schools and was a drive geared at encouraging each student at HeLP to get a feel of Agriculture and learn that it is easy, enjoyable and not dirty, real and embedded in all the subjects we do at school but above all could be geared into an economic venture to elevate anyone when they indulge in it.

It was on inception under the cloak of what we termed ‘my garden’ and each student was encouraged to put up some sort of garden however small.
Lessons were done in line with the students’ garden. Students blogged about these gardens and were made to improve plus maintain them.

The farm camp was to crown it up. A five-day event at Gayaza High School meant to concretize all that had been taught in the ‘my garden’ series now showcasing prominent farmers in the country.
It was also some kind of staff meeting for the HeLP staff under the able leadership of Mr. Ddungu Ronald. It was fun having all the virtual staff teaming up physically and evaluating what they had done and planning how far they desired to reach.
The camp boasts of having helped skill teachers and learners on technology use, partnering of schools and collaborations regarding teaching and bridging of the gap between teachers and students from all schools in Uganda.

I am glad to personally be a part of the team. God bless our efforts and may the HeLP school be blessed and live forever.
